Hi,

I have an two existing forms that are in Joomla 2.5.22 / Chronoforms 4 and I would like to migrate these to a new site which will be running Joomla 3.4.1 / Chronoforms 5. Both the old and new sites will be hosted on the same server with the same domain name.

What is the easiest way to migrate the forms and retain my validation code?

Hi rjturner,

I recommend that you do this in two stages.

First migrate to CFv4 on the new site. If you use a migrator like Akeeba Backup that should work OK - you should then install the latest version of CFv4 for Joomla! 3 on the new site, otherwise you may get some odd errors.

Second - and only if you need to - install CFv5 alongside CFv4 and migrate the forms over. There is no automatic upgrade so effectively this is a re-build.

Hi Bob,

It seems that it might be easier for me to stay with CFv4 for now and test CFv5 in a dev site at a later date.

Can I re-use the validation code that I have previously received for the existing CFv4 in the new installation of CFv4 or will I need a new code?

I think that the existing one will work if the domain is the same. If you have any problems please check with Max using the Contact Us menu above.
