Submit button not working

GreyHead 13 Feb, 2013
Hi adw1126 ,

It looks as though your form has no <form> </form> tags so technically isn't a form.

I placed the <form> <form/> tags onto the page and the submit button is now working, but the information is not going to the email address I have assigned. I am not sure where is the information has went.

Hi adw1126,

But you haven't set the action attribute correctly (the URL the form submits to) - or any of the other form attributes. Just adding <form> will let you click the submit button but doesn't tell the browser what to do next.

But I don't understand why you have turned off the ChronoForms <form> tags that do this for you?

Excuse me for my ignorance, but I believe everything is in place within the backend. The email address and etc. Is it possible you could take a quick glance at my setup? I copied the setting of a form that is currently live and working properly on the website.

Hi adw1126,

I'm sorry this isn't a problem with ChronoForms but with the way the form has been set up. I don't know how you have managed to break the form tags but that is the problem. I suggest you remove the tags that you have added and turn the ChronoForms tags on. The setting is the Add Form Tags option on the form General tab, click the form name link in the Forms Manager to see it.

OK, I have attached what I am seeing and using on the backend. I see the link that takes me to the form and it looks great, but I did not know how to place this on the actual page. I took the "form code" and applied it to the html of the page for it to view.

Hi asw1126,

As you've discovered that won't work. Please see this FAQ

Bob,

I have followed this feed and the form will not display. It just shows the tag {‍chronoforms}invigo{/chronoforms, instead of the form.

Hi adw1126,

By all means email or PM me the site URL, the article and form names, and a SuperAdmin login and I'll take a quick look.

Hi adw1126,

It looks as though you have a very old version of ChronoForms that is not compatible with the ChronoForms plug-in that you have installed (which is the latest CFv3 one).

The ChronoForms version is so old that you need to uninstall it, then reinstall the latest version of CFv3. Your forms should be preserved, but best to take a back-up version of the form and the DB tables first.

Bob,

Which one am I updating? Chronoforms or chronocontact? After you enabled "chronocontact" it placed and error message on the website and caused the site not to view. And how can I conduct a backup of the forms/database.

Bob,

I have uploaded chronoforms v4 and tried to install the backup and was told "not a chronoforms v4 backup file". I will have to create all new forms with this update?

Hi Antoine,

Sorry for not disabling the plug-in again :-(

The form I found was in ChronoForms v3 (also known as ChronoContact). You seem to have both the plug-ins for CFv3 and CFv4 installed but neither work because of the version mismatch.

You can backup your forms using the Backup and Restore icons in the ChronoForms toolbar. It's good to take a DB backup as well, you probably won't need it but better safe than sorry.

If you want to upgrade to CFv4 then (a) you will need to have the MooTools Upgrade plug-in enabled and (b) you will need to re-build or convert your forms - there is no automatic upgrade. Personally I'd wait until you move the site to Joomla! 2.5/3/0.
