Can't Drag & Drop Elements or Actions / No Icons For Editing

franccescalee 17 Oct, 2012
Hello,

I have two existing forms that I created a while ago and they worked fine when I created them. I have a new request for another form, so I went in to create a new form and most of the functionality in the Wizard was not working. So I tried editing one of the ones that I had created before and same thing, can't drag/drop any elements onto the Preview tab, all items are scrunched as well, I also do not see the buttons on the events tab that will allow me to move the event up or down or edit etc.

I'm using Joomla 1.5.20, MooTools 1.2.4, Chronoforms 4.0 RC3.3 -> I'm not sure what it was back when I created them, or if its been updated since then. I'm figuring that someone updated our MooTools and that is what is causing the issue. I am also trying to view it though IE9 on the server and I read that there is also an issue with these versions and IE9.

So after all that information, my question is....What version SHOULD I be using of MooTools? I read that there has been a new version MooTools 1.2.5 that will work with Joomla 1.5.20 and Chronoforms and not break the form wizard, but I can't figure out for the life of me where to get the correct version from, and how to properly upgrade the current version of MooTools.

I downloaded MooTools 1.2.5 and copied and pasted the mootools.js file into plugins/system/mtupgrade, disabled & enabled the plugin and it is still not working. I'm sure that it is something easy that I am missing, but I'm unsure as to what infomation out on the internet is really accurate for what I'm needing, either that or I'm not understanding how to properly install this.

Thanks for your help!

Hi franccescalee,

On Joomla! 1.5 ChronoForms should run OK with the standard MooTools Upgrade version, I think that is 1.2.4. I don't think that 11.2.5 will make ay significant difference.

Do you see any JavaScript errors in your browser Web Developer tools?

Hi GreyHead,

No, no javascript errors. I don't see any errors at all, just can't drag & drop items onto the form or edit any of the events in the form. I am using IE9, I read somewhere that the ChronoForms won't work properly in IE9 with Joomla 1.5.20 & MooTools 1.2.4?

Hi franccescalee,

Yes there are sometimes problems with the validation in the front-end in IE9, usually fixed by forcing the form page back to IE8 compatibility. I haven't heard of them in the admin but it could well be the same there. Can you try a different browser? If not, by all means email or PM me the site URL and a SuperAdmin login and I'll take a quick look.

Hi GreyHead,

That was it. I rolled back to IE8 on the server and now the wizard is working. Will this effect how the form renders for the client if they are using IE9 or is this just an issue related to the form wizard on the backend?

Thank you!

Hi franccescalee,

Just curiosity - are you running on a Windows server?

The front end might have the same problem. If the validation fails with IE9 there is a FAQ with a code snippet to force the form page to IE8 compatibility mode.

Hi GreyHead,

Yes, they have configured the windows server so that it will host our Joomla site. I will be getting that code snipit then so there are no issues with the client.

Thank you for your help!
