v4 and styling.. totally lost

calsnoboarder 23 Jul, 2011
I've used previous versions of chronoforms and have never had this much trouble trying to get my form to look decent. I've tried adding css (loading from events from within the form as well as stying it with inline styles). Nothing I have attempted has affected the form in any tangible way and I'm at my wits end and considering asking for a refund of the site license package I purchased because using the old version works much better than what I am seeing here.

I created a form using the tutorial and it works fine, but i can't figure out how to style it and there doesn't seem to be any tutorials about that particular aspect of the component.

Here is the url to the form (still not validated because it will actually be on another domain)...
http://www.cbifulfillment.dreamhosters.com/contact-us.html
I would like to get the text to follow the standard css which has a left margin of 30px from the edge, but i can't seem to get the form to follow the same css as the rest of the template...

As it is, the form butts up all the way to the left of the page, no margin, the labels are too far from the input fields... its just a mess... this is the straight output from chrono forms form wizard...

Where in tarnation do you edit the standard css for the forms output by chronoforms v4?

when i look at the source code for the page, is see all sorts of classes created (class="ccms_form_element cfdiv_text") but absolutely no css anywhere that actually styles that div... what am i missing? Do you need to validate the component to actually use css?

The form is not published.

"There is no form with this name or may be the form is unpublished, Please check the form and the url and the form management."

Hi calsnoboarder,

I just played 'Hunt the Form' on your site without any success. The link you posted doesn't seem to work. Hard to comment without seeing the form, please post a working link.

Which version of ChronoForms are you using? You can find the version from Site Admin | Extensions | Install/Uninstall | Components in Joomla! 1.5 or Site Admin | Extensions | Extension Manager | Manage in Joomla! 1.6.

Apologies..i removed the contact form while i tried to figure out what was happening. I reactivated it on the contact form page again... sorry for the confusion.

Though I still have yet to figure out how to get the form to accept the standard page css so that it isn't butted up against the left edge of the page.😟

The chronoforms version i am using is: 4.0 RC1.9

Actually it looks like i spoke too soon... I just tried the form again and though the css is still screwy, I am not receiving any email to the destination email I set up in the wizard.. thought it might have disabled the email, but i just checked and it is enabled...

Hi calsnoboarder,

It looks like some of the standard ChronoForms CSS but mostly your template CSS. It may not be to your taste but there's nothing 'broken'.

You can edit the ChronoForms CSS either by adding a Load CSS action to the OnLoad event; or by editing components/com_chronoforms/css/frontforms.css

I can't diagnose the email from the front-end. Please take a Form Backup using the icon in the Forms Manager and post it here (as a zipped file) or PM or email it to me and I'll take a closer look.

Hi calsnoboarder,

The Email is working OK from my test server. There may be a problem on the site because the From Email name does not match the domain name i.e. dreamhosters.com - I can’t see any instructions about this in the Dreamhost wiki.

If you add a DeBugger action to the OnSubmit event you will see some diagnostics that will tell you if the email was sent successfully.

I thought that might be the issue.. this is a dev site and its being mirrored on dreamhosters until we switch the DNS to the new server. I'll add the debug to ensure it is being sent. Thanks for your patience and time.

Nevermind... a lot of trial and error and i was able to edit the component css file...

Hi calsnoboarder,

Looks as though you've got this working?
