Sharing a database

dbedlow 21 Jun, 2011
I am trying to set up Chronoforms V4 to collect feedback from students of online courses that I run.

This means that I have set up a standard template which I then copy each time I want to set up a feedback form for a new course. The fields are always the same.

What I would like to do is to collect all the data from these forms on a single database, rather than create a new database each time that I set up a new form. (I have added a hidden field to the form which I amend each time so that I know which data relate to which course.)

However, I seem to have a problem when trying to do this. If create a new form by copying the template and then connect it to my existing database, it all seems to work fine. It shows that the table is connected to the form in the Forms Manager view and when I click on the FrontEnd view link, it displays perfectly.

However, when I then click on the 'submit' button, I just get a blank page rather than the 'thank you' message I have set up and the information on the form does not get added to the database.

It works absolutely fine if I copy the form and then create a new database, but not if I try to connect it to an existing one. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Thank you.

Hi dbedlow,

I guess that my first question is 'Why copy the form?' Usually you can keep the same form and change some small optional part to have it used for multiple courses - for example include a course id in the link used to call the form and set this value in a hidden input.

The blank page problem sounds like something connected to the calling URLs, what you have described should work OK. If you display the form using the front-end link do thay show the same symptoms?
