How to put a form into a joomla module side bar?

ikjosh 07 Dec, 2010
Hi

I am working with Joomla, and the site uses Chronoform for the contact page. I want to create a smaller contact form and put it on the sidebar on each page. So I created the module, added it to the sidebar of each page just fine, added the contact form to Chronoform, but when I add the {chronocontact}sidebarcontact{/chronocontact} code, it does nothing.

Any help is appreciated

Hi ikjoah,

The {chronocontact}sidebarcontact{/chronocontact} code is for the Plug-in. The module has a parameter at the top of the right hand column where you can enter the form name.

Hi Bob,

Sorry, this is kind of new to me - I don't see that option on the module page?

Hi ikjosh ,

Please see the image below.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the screen shot

When I go to create a new module, I don't see the option for mod_chronoform

Am I missing part of the install or something?

Hi ikjosh,

You need to download and install the ChronoForms module from the Downloads area here.

Thanks Bob. Got it installed, created a new module, when I enabled it, I got this error and not sure what it means/how to fix:

Warning: require_once(/users/mywebsite.com/htdocs/components/com_chronocontact/libraries/chronoform.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /users/mywebsite.com/htdocs/modules/mod_chronocontact/helper.php on line 6

Hi ikjosh,

I'm not sure - that line is trying to load the components/com_chronocontact/libraries/chronoform.php file.

Please check that it exists - though I think it has to for ChronoForms to work correctly.

Hi Bob

I do not see that file. What should I do?

If I buy you a beer, you think you could sign into my site and have a look? 😀

Hi ikjosh,

By all means email or PM me the site URL and a SuperAdmin login and I'll take a quick look.

Bob,

Looks like I figured it out - I installed ChronoForms. It looks like whatever was installed previously might have been outdated. Once I did the install, my existing Chronoforms page changed with all kinds of new options. Then when I went into my Modules, I was able to get the short sidebar form to display and work.

Thanks for all your help, I just bought you a beer, perfect timing, since it's Friday!

P.S. - I noticed the emails from the forms are getting caught in my spam folder, any way to prevent this?

Thanks again!

Hi ikjosh,

That makes sense the versions of ChronoForms and the Module have to be compatible.

Whilte-listing is probably the best way to keep emails out of your spam folder. Add the From Email Address to your address book. You should also make sure that the From Email Address matches the site domain.
