Dynamic CC not working (help on Emails Setup)

hollyschulz 27 Jul, 2010
What I'm trying to do is send the customer a copy of his/her own email submission, but I can't get this to work. I've tried Dynamic CC with our created email field, I've tried regular CC filled with the created email field, and I've tried both - still the only email that is sent is actually the BCC email. ("TO" isn't even working anymore!)

I have all customerservice@swiftpoolsupplies.com emails forwarded to me, then I put my own email as a BCC, but the only email I get is the BCC. When I test this out with a personal email for a fake submission, my personal email does not get a copy of the form submitted, nor does my work email get a forwarded copy of the customerservice email.

Am I doing something wrong? :?

Actually I just checked the customerservice email and those emails are going through - so either the BCC isn't working, or the forward on my email server isn't working.

---Update: my forward is working fine. It's the Dynamic CC that is not working. Anyone able to enlighten me on this??

Hi,

The CC email will have the To address the same as the "From email" address and this may get it blocked, its advised to use SMTP with CC/BCC emails, that fixed some issues before

Hi hollyschulz,

The CC box must have a valid Email address in it, not an input name.

I suspect that the BCC problem is because the Dyanmic CC address is the same as the Dynamic From Email address and the emails are being marked as spam.

I strongly recommend that you do *not* use the Dynamic From Email element in your Email Setups. Using this often results in your emails being marked as spam and dropped into a spam filter. Instead use the static From Email with an address that matches the site domain name and use Dynamic ReplyTo Email for the user email. The result is the same but with a much better chance of good delivery.

Thank you for your responses🙂

I actually got one of the forms working. See screenshot how - for some reason dynamic cc needs the { } around the form code, but nothing else?

Hi hollyschulz ,

You don't normally require brackets. I guess that you must have included the brackets somewhere else so that they have become part of the input name.

Grrr. This is just getting weird now!

I had the "https://www.swiftpoolsupplies.com/product-finder.html" form working perfectly - it would copy the person filling in the form, BCC my email address and just WORK in general...

I did the exact same setup for https://www.swiftpoolsupplies.com/contact-us.html form - could all the other HTML stuff on that page be conflicting? Either way, I had the email setup identically to the product finder, but no emails were being received anywhere!

Now that I tried taking your advice and setting the FromEmail to "customerservice@swiftpoolsupplies.com" and "Dynamic Replyto" to text_1, it doesn't work at all. Seems the only way ANYthing works is on the Product Finder with brackets ONLY around {text_1} in the Dynamic CC area..

What in the world is going on?!

Hi hollyschulz,

Please take a Form Backup using the icon in the Forms Manager and post it here (as a zipped file) or PM or email it to me and I'll take a closer look.

I think I figured it out... Apparently whenever you add a new for to the email setup, "Enabled" defaults to "No" in the Email Properties so I had to go back to both forms and enable them manually.

What's still weird is that Dynamic CC is text_1 on my General_Contact form, but dynamic CC only works as {text_1} on my product_finder form! Very strange, but not something I need fixed, just so long as it's working

Thanks for all your help guys!
