Need Some Date Field Help

bkmchronoengine 28 Jul, 2009
Very Cool - I must say, I like this extension. Super easy to use so far, but I have some questions.

Did a search on the forum and all I'm coming up with for changing the date format is related to the date picker.

I need to change the date format while creating a field in the form wizard from YYYY/MM/DD to MM/DD/YYYY. Checking things out, not seeing anything obvious. Where can I tweak this?

Also, just so I know what the heck I did, I was opening the various administration buttons to see what was inside, and obviously now after the fact, the "Upgrade SQL" button did it's thing successfully per the admin message, instead of opening up. Any harm done? This is a brand new install today of CF and CC on 1.5.13.

Also, created a table, linked the table to my form, and data is showing in the records for the CF fields, but not my fields. My fields are being successfully populated and sent via email. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Hi bkmchronoengine.

First, running the Upgrade SQL button should be harmless. It adds some missing fields to tables from older versions of ChronoForms.

I don't understand the data format question - the format for all date-pickers is set in the General Tab settings.

When you created the tabel did you check the boxes for your fields? It's easy to create a table with only the standard CF fields.

10-4. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

As for linking the table, not sure if I checked the boxes or not. Probably not. So what is the best way to "reopen" the table, or edit it to add the missing fields? Or is it possible to create a new table with the same table name and overwrite it. Or is this problematic.

Related to this, what is the best way to delete unwanted tables, and are there any issues one should be concearned about?

Also related to this, before I figured out there was a way to edit forms through the Wizard Edit, I started from scratch each time for subsequent revisions of the same form. Hence, I would like to know if there are any issues with deleting a form that I should be concerned about.

As for the date issue, I will try to clarify when creating a new form in the Form Wizard.

When adding a field and selecting validation:required and validation:date as the check box options, once the form is created and viewed on the FE, this date field wants a data entry format of YYYY/MM/DD. What I want is MM/DD/YYYY for data entry format. Is there a date format option that is selectable somewhere in CF?

Thanks again for the great help.

Hi bkmchronoengine,

Assuming that you have no important data saved the best way to edit the table is to Drop the existing table using PHPMyAdmin or something similar and then use the ChronoForms Create Table icon to create a new one.

Dropping unwanted tables should be no problem as long as they don't contain data that you need to keep!

You can delete any unwanted forms (or keep them, there's no real cost except that the Forms Manager list is longer).

There isn't a US format data validation (only the sensible yyyy/mm/dd and dd/mm/yyyy versions) - probably there should be. But if you use a date-picker you can set the date format in the General Tab and as the user can't over-write manually you don't need a validation.

Hi,

Thanks for info. 10-4 on the phpmyadmin and other table / form information.

Explored the date picker, but some of the dates are quite old that need to be selected, so it won't work well for my need. A US date format would be very helpful.

Thanks again.
