I have chonoforms configured to register users for the site. The welcome message generated looks like this:

Hello Tim, Thank you for registering at offenderservices. Your account is created and must be activated before you can use it. To activate the account click on the following link or copy-paste it in your browser: http://offenderservices.com/index.php?option=com_user&task=activate&activation=fecdfccaea2b95e4a26b62dfe811ff5b After activation you may login to http://offenderservices.com/ using the following username and password: Username: [email]tsenft@bellsouth.net[/email] Password: boo

How can I edit this so I can include some line breaks, etc. so it will look better?

This is a standard Joomla message and in my expereince usually arrives formatted. Perhaps something is sending it as plain text instead of html or vice versa.

The message text is in languages/eh-GB/en-GB.com_user.ini (or en_US possibly) and contains the necessary line-breaks.
