[SOLVED] Form does not send email

Phil91 07 May, 2009
Hi,

Beginning with ChronoForms but not with Joomla and programming:

- I created a pre-registration form following all your tutorials, enabled the form both in General tab and the form header is
green...
- Did a backup of the form and looked at it without seeing anything special...
- Working with the latest ChronoForms package updated today
- Using a dedicated server based on Ubuntu and using MySQL 5.0.51a-3ubuntu5.4, PHP is PHP Version 5.2.4-2ubuntu5.5

Sendmail is obviously enabled and, yet, no email is sent from the form whatever the address I try to send it to...

I attach the form backup to this message...

If you could provide any indication as to where to look at, I would appreciate it a lot..

Best regards

Hi Philippe,

Form looks OK, and sends email Ok from here. I suspect that the From Email address needs to match your site domain. If not it maybe being identified as spam. Use admin@your_site.com to test.

PS The e acute in the form name may cause problems if you save to a database - better to stick to a-z,A-Z there.

And you have error message enties in the Validation tab - those boxes only take field names.

Hi Philippe,

The form looks OK.

Could be a server setting but ChronoForms uses the standard Joomla mailer settings and code so if your site can send emails from teh content page links it *should* send them from ChronoForms.

By all emeans email or PM me a SuperAdmin login and I'll take a look.

Sent you a PM...Thanks for looking into this...
Appreciate your efforts...

Nice and well thought package anyway...I bet there's just a permission issue or a Linux thing

Hi Philippe,

The site wasn't sending emails from an article page. I've switched the mailer config from PHP Mail Function to Sendmail and it seems to be working now.

Hi Bob,

Do you mean that it sends it from the form now?
GreyHead 07 May, 2009
Hi Philippe,

It appeared to. I didn't put my address in to check - did you get an email?

Hi Bob,
No I didn't, but to tell you the truth, I believe that this has something to do with the way email sending is set on our box...I'll dig into it and will check the sendmail install...

One question though: I noticed that the form didn't display the tooltips...I set tooltips just to see how they looked but hovering the icon doesn't display them...Is this using mootools and if yes, could there be a version of mootols which would need to be installed?

Thanks

Phil

Hi Phil,

The tooltips probably aren;t working because the JQuery JavaScript library is loading on the page, JQuery and Mootools (which is used for the tooltips are not compatible).

If you view the page without the template here you'll see that the tooltips are fine.
