Chronoform 3.0 Files - what is what????

georgealto 01 Jan, 2009
This is a very basic question but I have to ask it since I've spent a significant amount of time trying to find these answers and they are not on the website anywhere nor the forum.

Basically, what are all the Chronoform files for? Again, this should be put somewhere on the main site so anyone and everyone (especially new people) know what files they need and what purpose/function they serve. But for now, can someone answer what these files are for:

* Chronoforms Component (CHRONOFORMS V3.0 STABLE.ZIP) - This is the Chronoforms component that contains the primary functionality of Chronoforms

* Chronoforms Mambot (CHRONOFORMS MAMBOT V0.8 – CFV3.0 STABLE.ZIP) - This mambot is needed if you plan on adding forms to regular Joomla Content (Articles) pages

* Profile Plugin (CF_AUTHORIZE DOTNET J1.5.ZIP) - Is this the PLUGIN from FAQ that states you can access the Joomla Database and populate your forms? If so, the name of this component is very confusing (sounds like something for microsoft .NET platform). If it is not that, then what is it and also where is the PLUGIN to access the database

* Module (MOD_CHRONOCONTACT V1.1 CFV3.0 STABLE.ZIP) - Have no idea what this is. Not even a search in the Forum revealed any clue or hint about it

* Miscellaneous (SEF EXT.ZIP) - Have no idea what this is. Sounds like it may be for Search Engine optimization but there's nothing on the website about what it is, how to use it, etc.. It's probably something I'd be interested in (since it appears to be SEF) but can't use without more info.

* Applications (SUBMITCONTENT.CFBAK)
This one at least had a little information. But the description is lacking and could be better explained:
"You will need Chronoforms V3.0 BETA 2 or up to run this package, this form will allow users to submit their content to the website, there are 2 important things to do before getting it to work :"

If you put thorough descriptions on the DETAILS of each of the downloaded files, it would go along way!

Thanks in advance......

Hi georgealto,

Just a couple of corrections.

The CF_AUTHORIZE DOTNET J1.5.ZIP Plugin is a CF add-on to let you send your form results to the Authorize.net payment gateway.

The Profile Plugin in something different - I think it will allow users to add to their Joomla Profile???

The Module (MOD_CHRONOCONTACT V1.1 CFV3.0 STABLE.ZIP) is a Joomla Module that will allow you to display a form in a module position on your pages.

The SEF EXT.ZIP is I think a beta add-on to make ChronoForms work better with sh404SEF - I did write one but I'm not sure that this is it :-(

I agree that it would be better to have good descriptions with the downloads . . . when I have a spare monent . . .

Thanks....

Then FAQ #46 "How can I show a form in a module?" should be updated. It states that you cannot put a form in a module and references the user to the CONTENT ITEM EXTENSION which would all you to do this.

But according to your response, it looks MOD_CHRONOCONTACT V1.1 CFV3.0 STABLE.ZIP lets you do that and therefore the CONTENT ITEM EXTENSION is not necessary.

The Module (MOD_CHRONOCONTACT V1.1 CFV3.0 STABLE.ZIP) is a Joomla Module that will allow you to display a form in a module position on your pages.

Hi georgealto,

True, both methods will work.
