[SOLVED] 404 Error - Component Missing

ChasD 10 Nov, 2008
Installed Plug-in, Component (Express install), and Module. Install was not happy if I installed the component first, got error when trying to install plug-in second (already installed). So I think it is correctly installed, parameters configured, and all components enabled. However, when I click on the comments link under a frontpage article (dulde.com), I get the following:

404 - Component not found

Max - I went into Global settings for the site and turned off the SEF options (I had enabled 'search friendly URLs' and 'add suffix to url') - and Chronocomment now appears to work. Is there a patch, hack, or workaround for this - I'd like to keep those two SEO options enabled if I can?

Here's are screenshots of the link from my fontpage and the error message (when the SEO options mentioned above are enabled):

Hi ChasD,

this should not happen of course, which Joomla and ChronoComments version do you have ?

Joomla 1.5.7 and ChronoComments 1.2

If I turn off the SEO options (SEF URLs and Add suffix to URL) - it works fine.

Hi Chas,

Whats the Link to this article but from the article title itself ? is it different than this generated by Comments link ?

Here's the URL from a 'title link'
http://www.dulde.com/index.php/component/content/article/1-latest-news/47-obama-lot.html

Here's the URL from the 'Comments' link below the article
http://www.dulde.com/index.php/component/content/article/1-latest-news/47-obama-lot.html#comments

Both links go to the Article page which shows the article and the comments box.

What's weird is that today, the comments link no longer blows the 404 error. So, I guess for now this is a non-issue - don't know why this might have just gone away?

Hi ChasD,

did you update Joomla or made any changes ? the 2 URLs are the same except the anchor and so they should go to the same page with no problems at all!🙂
