Redirect from CF5 form ipn event to CF7 form

I have a CF5 form containing only a Paypal redirect and a Paypal listener (because these functions are not available in CF7).  Several of my CF7 forms involving payment redirect to the CF5 form correctly, and go to Paypal for payment.  The ipn event executes the listener and processes some custom php code.  The final step of the ipn event should redirect to a CF7 form to complete processing, but the redirect never happens.  Is there something about the ipn event that prevents the redirect from working?

The Listener in general works when the payment gateways sends a notification, no user request should run this, it only listens to the gateway request, so you should not have a redirect there.

Did you try the PayPal Redirect in the latest ChronoForms v8 ? if it works well for you then a Listener can also be added.

I probably didn't make my question clear.  My CF5 form runs the Paypal redirect and listener as intended; I don't try to run it from a user request.  But after the listener receives the ipn and runs some php code, I would like it to redirect to a CF7 form to process the information from the ipn.  Apparently that will not work, so I have to forget about using the CF5 form for this purpose.

I can't try the CF8 paypal redirect, or even install CF8, until I get my site upgraded from Joomla 3 to 5.  That's why I'm trying to convert all my CF5 forms to CF7, since that's the only release that will work on both versions of Joomla.  Once the upgrade is finished, I will install CF8 and test the redirect.
