old data remains

Pkoll 23d ago

Hi Max,

I'm still having a problem with the data you enter in a form. When I reopen the form, the old data remains.

No matter what I try, for example, with JavaScript to reset the form or embedding it in an article via the plugin, nothing works.

Is there really no solution for this? It's so annoying!

greetings

Paul

Hi Paul

this happens even when the form is displayed using a Menu item ?

This issue happens only when you have a form inside an article using the Content Plugin and the Joomla Cache is enabled, but we released the ChronoForms8 System plugin to solve this issue

Hi Max

Can this be the reason?

If I change the "next page" variable in the settings from auto to manual, the form data remains. So that's why the data remains?

So "next page" is auto, no problem. If I set it to manual, the data is retained.

Answer

Hi Paul

The Next Page setting is a legacy setting, it's not recommended to use it, when you set it to manual the form will not "finish", this means that form session data will not be cleared.

But with Auto the form will be marked as finished once the last page's Submit event is processed

Hi Max,

But when I use a menu field and the settings are "auto" them this does not work. Also when I use a redirection and the settings are "auto" it doen't work. So I set the paging to 'Manual' and then the only the problem is that the data retains in the field when I start the form over again.

So how to handle?

Paul

Hi Paul

Auto should always be enabled.

What exactly does not work when you use a menu item or redirection ? do you mean opening a specific form page ?

Hi Max,

Yes when I try to open a page with a link or with a menu item it does not work. Only when I change the setting to "manual" then there is no problem.

But then all the data retains in the form!

Hi Paul

if you need to open a form page through a link then that page should have it's own Page Group or be the first page in a unique Page Group

Otherwise the first form page will be opened.

Does this solve the issue you have ?

Yes,

I never used Page Group. Where can I find how and when to use Page Groups.

It solve the problem. Thanks. I now have to learn how and when to us Page Group.

Is it so that when you use a button with Submit and the next page wil be executed then the page is within the same page Group

So we wil see.

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul

Page Group is a group of pages which will be processed together, from first to last.

You are correct, when you start the first page in a Page Group, then the next page in the group will be processed after the first one is submitted, till the last one in that Page Group

In Joomla i have used ChronoForms v6 and made a big Form. Can I move this form into ChromeForm v8 in Wordpress?

Max_admin 14d ago

Hi jb

This question is completely off topic, but yes, you can install v8 on WordPress and restore the v6 form backup file there

Any new questions please post a new topic
