moving posts

As my forums grow, is it possible to move posts/threads as I add more categories/forums?
GreyHead 09 Jan, 2022
Hi sushidog,

If you click the pencil 'edit' icon at the top of the thread you can move the thread to a different forum and the scissors icon in a post lets you split a thread (I don't think I've ever used that).

Hmm...if I click on the pencil/edit icon, my page goes a bit grey but I don't see where I can actually edit anything. Perhaps I have a permission set incorrectly.

Nope, seems to be a conflict with my template, Shaper_helixultimate. Works if I switch to prostar to test. Damn, and I already paid for a license.

Is there a way to do any of this moving or editing from the backend?

Hi sushidog,

Please try adding &tmpl=component to the url when you want to edit - I think that should get round the problem.

Doesn't seem to be working. Here's a URL that I tried it on:

https://pushingcardboard.com/index.php/forum/posts/t3/003-happy-new-year

https://pushingcardboard.com/index.php/forum/posts/t3/003-happy-new-year&tmpl=component

The latter just gives me the same frozen ghosted page when I click on the edit icon

Hi sushidog,

Please try https://pushingcardboard.com/index.php/forum/posts/t3/003-happy-new-year/?tmpl=component

The & won't work if it is the first variable in the URL

Interesting. Went to the URL exactly as you suggested. This time, it took a bit of the formatting away from the page, so I thought maybe it would work. But when I hit the blue edit button, same result as before. (Same thing if I hit the similar blue circle edit post button).

Hi sushidog,

If you can PM me a login so that I can see the page I'll take a quick look.

Permissions, sorry. I had it that only superusers could see the forums while I set them up. I've added "special" users and that seems to included administrators, which I've set your access as. Hopefully you can finally see the forum.

Hi sushidog,

I got there, thank you.

There's a JavaScript error showing in the bootstrap.bundle library being loaded by the template. Adding the ?tmpl=component should load the page without the template code but that doesn't seem to be working :-(

Is there any solution? I like your forum software, but not enough to pitch my template.
GreyHead 14 Jan, 2022
Hi sushidog,

Sorry, I have no easy solution - I'm not familiar with the ChronoForums code, or with your template's code :-(
