Can you save a form field entry to the joomla user profile when its not a registration form?

Question

Can a form save the data from a specific form field to the user profile to appear there even when its not a registration form?
and if yes...
Can the same form when being submitted a 2nd time with different answers do the same but not overwrite the original form answers?

the user profile data are stored in the custom fields table I think, you can use the "Save Data" action to do what you want.​I'm not sure what you mean by "but not overwrite the original form"
