Fickle Database but working Email

Endlessline 20 Aug, 2008
So this is probably one of the weirdest problems i've had in the entirety of my Joomla experience. I have a Joomla 1.5.4 site that has the latest version of Chronoforms installed on it. The form is being emailed correctly and 100% of the time. The strange issue is that it will only write to the DB ~50% of the time. I had a testing session with the client last night where 4 users tried to submit the form at about the same time. I received all 4 emails (which is great, at least we have the data somewhere) but the database only recorded 2 registrations. Great mystery.... 😶 Don't really know where to look, any ideas i'm completely stumped

Hi, first of all, upgrade your joomla version, you put yourself under the risk of hack!
which Chronoforms version exactly you have ?

arg....i'm a tard. I have an old version. if an upgrade doesn't fix the problem, what should i look for?

well, upgrading to the latest V3 is another story and you may need to redo all your forms again! tell me, when you test, you get everything saved ? do you have text areas at the form ? when users was testing, did they add single or double quotes ' or " in the text ? with some servers config this may fail but this shouldn't happen with V3! first test and let me know!

Ahhhh....good idea. I'll see if the quoting makes a difference. I'll probably end up upgrading to 3.0 anyway. The registration period is ending today so the database is pretty much completely in email form for now so losing the form actually isn't too big of a deal. I'll test the quotes and get back to you....and then probably just upgrade to 3.0. Thanks for your help I'll be in touch.

Hi,
I have the same problem. Names with an ' as D'Hooghe causes the problem (in RC2 and 3). E-mail is (luckely) sent, but no databse entry. I suppose an escape problem somewhere.
You're suggesting upgrading to version 3, but that should implement reworking the forms? If that's a fact, then it's very difficult for the moment (this month) to do that (clients are subscribing now for an event). Is there a fix possible in one of the files. Could you point me in the right direction?

Thanks
Geert

Hi geert,

search the forums for "addslashes", we had some posts with the same issue for V2.5, you will need to edit the Autogenerated code only!

let me know!
