Problems during the update of Chronoforms

NinaB 20 Oct, 2017
Hi

I have updated my Joomla version to 3.8.1. I therefore also wanted to update my chronoforms v5. Unfortunately there was an error during the update. I enclose a screenshoot to illustrate the problem.

Please inform me what I can do to get my chronoforms v5 properly updated?

Best regards

Hi Nina,

I thought that had been fixed :-( Please download the latest CFv5 release from here and install that over your existing version.

Hi again Bob

I have now installed the newest version and tested it. Unforfortunately I get an error which is "could not instantiate mail function". I enclose a screenshot showing the error.

I do not know whether above error is related to the my problems with installing the tcdpf file. I enclose a screenshot showing the problem.

Could you please help.

Thanks

Hi Nina,

It looks as if you are using the Joomla! installer for the TCPDF action - you need to use the Install Action icon in the Forms Manager.

For the email there is an incorrect setting somewhere. Do you have any CF Email settings? Does the Test Email work from Site Admin Settings?

Hi Bob

As usual a quick answer from you🙂🙂. You are quite right that I did use the Joomla Installer for the TCPDF action. Before I try to install it from the Install Icon in the Forms Manager could you please tell me, what kind of action it does make?

I am not quite sure that I understand what you mean by have a test email working from site admin settings? But I know that the form did function before I installed the newest version.

Hi Nina,

The TCPDF action allows you to create a PDF from the form data.

If you look at the Site Admin Email settings there is a 'Test Email' button at the bottom of the page under the Email settings. If you click that does it send an email correctly?

Hi Bob

I found the email settings and tried to send a test-email. I did get the same error message "could not instantiate mail function". I enclose a screenshot to illustrate the problem.

I do not know if you need to know how my E-mail settings look like. But just to be on the safe side I enclose a screenshot of my e-mail settings.

Hi Bob

I received a message from you that you had send me a new reply. But something must have gone wrong in your reply system since your reply seem to be a copy of my reply?

Hi Bob

I did manage to get my host to solve the problem with the email settings. Thereafter i tested my form which now seems to work properly.

I wish you a nice weekend
