I'm using Chronoforms v4 on my Joomla website and the forms have worked successfully for almost three years.
Since the upgrade to Joomla 3.5.0 I have been getting the following error when a form is submitted
SMTP connect() failed.
The database is being updated - it is the e-mail that is failing. I have been using the e-mail facility as a back-up should the database ever fail. Every time someone updates the database (in my case that means someone has entered a golf competition) I get an e-mail showing all the details
As the database is being updated, the e-mail fault is not the end of the world. I'd rather not revert to Joomla 3.4.8 if I don't have to as I have updated quite a lot of articles since my last 3.4.8 backup 2 days ago. Everything worked in Joomla 3.4.8
However, looking on Joomla forums it seems the problem is associated with changes to an e-mail API and is affecting other Forms providers, not just Chronoforms.
I don't have enough technical knowledge to understand the options outlined at
https://github.com/PHPMailer/PHPMailer/wiki/Troubleshooting
Do you know if this is a problem that will be resolved in the Joomla core or is it something that Chronoforms will address?
