Hello Max, Bob and anybody on-line,

one of my customers has two websites: one created with wordpress(not created by me) and the other with joomla (I am in charge of this one). Both systems deliver the same service and share the same users (Basically the website made in wordpress is the "teaser" for the other creted with joomla).

At the moment the user can register from both websites. The service and the "business logic" is running on the joomla website
(made completely with CFv4, CFv5 and CCv5).
The registration on the WP website is an iframe pointing to the joomla website.

I wanted to move a step forward to make a registration form with CF5 for WP that authomatically register users to the joomla DB without using iframe.

Besides the security holes that this may cause (I am well aware of that), is there a way to chance the Joomla User Registration Plugin so that points to a DB hosted at another server and another system in order to achieve the final result?
Any advice or help?

Hi Marco,

I've never tried this and don't really know. What you could do is to use a cURL action on the WP site to call a form event on the Joomla! site and have that do the Joomla! registration. It does mean passing passwords etc. between the two sites but presumably you could encrypt a data string in WP and de-crypt it again in Joomla!

I was thinking of modifying the source of joomla registration so that behind the scenes could connect to another mysql host... but I have not tried yet.

I will try your advice which makes more sense to me.
