Hello,
Is there a tutorial or step by step forum post about creating a site registration page with ChronoForms using the J!/CB plugins?

I am completely stumped. I've created my form and synced the fields with the J! and CB registration plugins, enabled them from within the form (under "Plugins") but the registrations do not get added to the J! or CB users table. The email still gets sent from ChronoForms, but not data is entered into either of the user tables. Am I missing something here?????

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Jonathan,

I'm afraid that there aren't any PlugIn tutorials at the moment, I don't use CB so that makes it difficult to know what's happening for you.

Are you using both PlugIns? That doesn't sound right to me - they both do more or less the same thing. Disable the Joomla Registration Plugin and see if things improve.

I've tried it with both plugins and each on individually and still do not seem to work.

Is there anyone in the community that has gotten the Community Builder registration plugin to work successfully? I'm must be missing one small setting somewhere.

The CB plugin does have some Extra fields for testing, write something like <?php echo 'CB is ON'; ?> in the first and 2nd box and see if it gets executed ?

I tried that and I'm getting nothing. Where would this output? I'll try a js alert to see if maybe I missed the output.

One weird thing I noticed is that when I saved the CB Registration settings (syncing all the fields), when I put <?php echo 'CB is ON'; ?> click save and go back into the CB settings, it's added slashes in the php code as if it's trying to escape characters, and it adds slashes each time I open and save. For instance now it looks like this... <?php echo \\\\\\\"CB is ON\\\\\\\"; ?>

So let me make sure I have everything set up correctly...

1. Created a new form "Registration_Form"
2. Checked "CB Registration" from the "Plugins" tab under Form Management for "Registration_Form". All other plugins unchecked.
3. Synced form fields to CB Registration fields. Check "Registration_Form", clicked "CB Registration" under plugins.

Is there anything I'm missing?

no, one thought, try the Joomla registration plugin instead, does it work ?

Still a no go with the Joomla! registration plugin too.

I'm going to try some tests/changes with my form. This all seems to weird.

I still can't seem to get any of the plugins to work with my form.

Are there any examples of the plugins working? I'm at a complete loss.

Hi webmonkiee,

I'm guessing that your problems with extra slashes and with the Registration PlugIns may be linked. I think that the slashes problem may be linked to Magic Quotes - please will you check System Info | PHP Settings and see if Magic Quotes is ON or OFF.

Also please tell us which versions of PHP and Joomla you are using - on the System Info tab.

Hi, I didn't even try the CB, I looked at them both and configuration was wrong as I told in the PM so I didn't try to test!

I made all the changes to the CB plugin config and it still is not working. The Joomla plugin works fine, but not the CB plugin.

Max, have you every used the CB plugin on other sites? Did you write it? I'm wondering if it's an issue with CB????

Actually I used CB 1 or 2 times all the time I worked with joomla, because simply I don't like it🙂

I developed and tested this plugin on Joomla 1.0.x and converted it to be J1.5 also but I can't remember if I tested it on J1.5 or not! I think CB is not J1.5 native ?

I have the CB plugin working fine, but is there any way for the user to be approved rather than me having to approve manually? (maybe this is somewhere other than the plugin).

Also, does anyone know the code for the acajoom newsletters that goes with CB... so I can get the acajoom newsletter area working on the chronoform? So when someone registers they can pick what mailings they want?

I think that the member approval is a CB/Joomla configuration setting - try Configuration | Registration | Require Admin Approval = No

I've done one Acajoom / ChronoForms linkup and, from memory, we started out with the Acajoom subscription code

I am using J1.5.6 and CB1.2.

Does the CB Reg PlugIn working with CB1.2?

Tried it put it, but didn`t get any INSERTS in to the comptofiler table.

well, Cheryl said its fine!

I should qualify that I have CB ver. 1.1 and after seeing the issues with 1.2 I will hold off on the upgrade. I spent a lot of time getting the dang forms to work right and plugin to CB so I don't want to start over again!!

Well now that I've said it's working fine it no longer is.

Can you think of what I might have done to make it no longer work? I've been trying to get the password verification to work with no luck (using moovalidation.js), but can't think of any other files I've changed. I also replaced that file with the original and still no luck.

Any ideas? The info submitted is getting emailed, and writing to the CF table, but not transfering to the CB user table. I tested it a lot and it was working fine, but now that I've asked the client to test, it seems to have stopped. 🙄

I use CB because of all the extra fields I can set up in the profile. Maybe the regular joomla reg has that too?? I don't know. I started with this site with help from another designer and she set up the CB. Is that a good excuse?? 😶

Nobody is registered yet since the plugin croaked so I'm not opposed to doing it another way!! But some of my other components are already using the CB plugin so I'd probably rather keep it that way.

I suggest you use the normal CB registration page then until you figure out how to get this to work so you don't lose users, I will try to test the CB plugin sometime and get back with results here!

FYI I had joomla "allow registration" OFF which would not allow the form to write to CB with the plugin.

I have got it working with the new plugins—thank goodness!!!

Now I'm having some issues with the account details and confirmation emails, but I'll figure that out.

Max, is the CB plugin suppose to display the CB confirmation page once the form has been submitted similar to the way the J! plugin does?

No, the CB plugin is simply the J one but with adding one record to the CB table, that's all, so don't expect it will work the way CB is configured, I don't check any CB variables!

Ok so I'm at a total loss here, I've been trying variations for 3 days now trying to get this form to write to the CB table.

I'm using J! 1.5.6, CB 1.1 and CF 3.0 Stable.
Currently I have Joomla set to allow registrations and CB set to "yes, independently of global site setting".
As for the form, I made it entirely in Dreamweaver and it uses the LiveValidation Library which works very nicely and the form itself works exactly as it should.
I setup the CB and J! plugins with the proper fields and have tried multiple combination's as far as having them enabled and disabled.
I should also mention that I'm using the updated CB and J! plugins found elsewhere on this forum.

The last few times I tried to submit the form I had only the CB plugin enabled and was only linked to the jos_comprofiler DB table, it created a new user in the jos_users table and not the jos_comprofiler table.
So I left the CB plugin enabled and removed the link to all the tables and checked "enable data storage" to NO, and it's still writing the info. to jos_users and not to jos_comprofiler. So I have no idea what to do now, I don't mind that it writes to jos_users but I need it to write to jos_comprofiler, I would actually like it to write to both. But mostly I just can't figure out how it's writing to anything with nothing being linked

Any help or Ideas would be greatly appreciated,

Hey Max I looked at the tutorial and it looks like i followed the same format but with a few exceptions.

1. I did not use the "Form Wizard", instead I made it from scratch in Dreamweaver.
2. I did not name the field id's the same as in the tutorial.

These differences aside it seems that no matter what I do at this point it still creates a new user for the J! table so that works fine.

The problem is, and I may have stated this incorrectly in the previous post, I really need some of the form info. put into the CB table too.

I'm using the CB login module on the site and some custom CB fields that are both quite heavily integrated at this point and would like to avoid rebuilding everything. But I just can't seem to get anything to write to the CB table, regardless of what I do though it still always write to the J! table. For a while it was even writing 2 rows to the J! table 1 with user info and 1 that was blank, thats stopped for some reason now though.

As a side note, I noticed that the CB table jos_comprofiler doesn't have any username or password fields. So, if I assume that means that CB relies on the J! table jos_users then maybe the only problem I'm having is with the CB plugin.

Hi James,

please pay attention that you shouldn't use the db connection and the plugins, only one of them.

also you should have joomla global config set to allow registrations or CB reg will not work.

you need to map your form fields NAMES and not ids, this is a tutorial bug, you need to map them as per the tutorial in the CB plugin config.

do you have all this setup correctly ?

Ok, sorry for the delayed response. I have now setup the form as you described.
I have since tested a number of setups using either DB connections or Plugins ( not both anymore 😀 ) and it still only writes to the J! DB table.
I'm quite confident that I have done something wrong to cause this but not sure what.

Ok, I assume you have the CB plugin ONLY enabled and not the CB one and J registration one ? if so then show me your CB plugin config here with a screenshot.

Hey Max this is the configuration I've got for the cb plugin. I put all the field names in their appropriate places, maybe I need to name them something specific.
If your wondering why the Name and Username field have the same field nmae it's because I only have a username field on my form but I read somewhere that the name field is "required" for J! and CB[attachment=0]cb_plugin_config.jpg[/attachment]

Hi James, are you sure that the CB plugin is enabled, and that you have V3.0 stable running ?

When I go to uninstall components ChronoContacts is listed as V3.0 STABLE and here is a screenshot of the enabled plugin.

Strange, and you say data is added to the jos_users only ? if so then send me some admin login to your site in a PM and I will try to check this!

Ok Max, I finally got it to post to the CB table. It was a completely stupid error on my part. If you look at the 2nd PM I sent you, the second required field value I stated was wrong and was doing exactly what I said it would in the PM. So it works :mrgreen: and I feel like a total chump for wasting your time like that.
